The altimeter measure is probably closer to the correct figure as Strava's use of the Height Database (http://www.osola.org.uk/elevations/) would miss all of the slight ups and down we done when running on "the flat"

Mine resembles a spectacular sunset now after my fastest ever negotiation of the final 30ft of Geronimo. I had another long slide about 45 mins later and by coincidence had the same (Coniston FR) runner behind me who must have thought I was going round the whole course without using my legs.I reckon there'll be some sore backsides today.........

The land at the end of our toes goes on and on and on.
Frustrating race for me, I am strong on the climbs so overtake loads of people going up-hill. I had loads of people congratulate me as I passed them as I ran slowly up the last climb only for all of them to overtake me again between there and the finish. That overtaking/re-overtaken happened the whole day!!
I got 1100 meters on my Suunto (with barometer and GPS to work it out) Strava rounded it down to 2700! About 900ft
My figures with a Suunto ambit 2 were 13.81 miles and 3110 ft ascent
I do love this race. Living in the Deep South I only make the journey north for a goodun and this is one of them! Many thanks to Kieron and co.
From the Strava website
https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/2...tricaltimeters
"We generally consider the data from barometric altimeters to be of higher quality than the data derived from GPS signals and prefer that when processing activities."
Strava recognizes my watch as having a Barometer so it defaults to the Barometer height values.
So Saturday was:
Distance: 22,65 km Time: 3:01:57 Avg Pace: 8:02 min/km Elevation Gain: 1.011 m

Just to revive this on a totally different note, seemed there were plenty of snappers out (saw someone on the road on the way in for example) but I've only seen pics on Sportsunday, are there any others around? Had a look but I can't find any.
I know David Belshaw was one of them mate, have a look in these two albums;
