    Give it a try

Just wondering if anyone can help me get started - would really love a go at fell running. I have done some long distance walking (last 1 was a few weeks ago and I did just over 26 miles)I do road running up to 3 times a week. Could you let me know where I can go to start or if you don't mind if I tag along. I live in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Come to the Shoulder of Mutton Mytholmroyd on Wednesday (setting off running at 7pm). Tod Harriers run from there this month (we use a different pub each month) and have a couple of Bat Run groups (off road)slow and fast at the moment.

I should be hobbling along with the slower group say hi and i can introduce you to whichever group is best.

It's best to bring a waterproof top, a hat, some gloves, compass and whistle as a minimum in your bumbag. I also take waterproof pants as it can be a long walk back if you get injured. Obviously a headtorch of some kind as well.

Ps studded shoes of some kind would be an idea, there are some steep paths around and they are wet at present.
