Following the government u-turn on fracking in National parks .
Should the FRA be joining other groups such as The BMC in voicing our concerns for the environment we all love?

Never mind.
I am totally in support of fracking and everybody who drives a car should stop being a hypocrite and get down on their knees and thank the brilliant petroleum engineers etc who developed the technology which has reduced the world price of petroleum and therefore the cost of every other manufactured item and therefore boosted the world economy etc etc.
"...as dry as the Atacama desert".
Never realised technology was behind the slump in oil Prices Graham .(thought it was a slump in demand/overproduction)
One of the knock on effects is a decline in western stock markets who have very large investments in oil companies ,this will of course have a negative effect on pensions ,both now and in the future ,the government also likes to see oil prices rising as it gains more revenue with increased taxes, this money will have to be found elsewhere,it won't be coming from taxes on bankers bonuses because with the ensuing downturn they will be making less
Merry Xmas all

The collapse in crude prices is only temporary. A lot of things have come together at one time- Subsea making unviable wells viable again, the 'work' in Iraq...also places like Khazakstan, Azerbaijan etc have now invested in new gear that doesn't piss it all over the place. A lot of topside gear is now FPSO which is much more flexible than a platform- it's most useful in conjunction with Subsea assets. Gulf of Mexico are still investing in water injection gear which indicates they expect to get their money back somehow, Norwegians are still releasing new projects in the North Sea, they wouldn't bother if they didn't expect a rise in crude prices. Iraq will be an interesting development in the future, i've seen the Powerpoint briefs- there's so much untapped oil there it's unbelievable.
