As the LC was set up to stop Wasdale, Ennerdale and the likes dying out, it's good to see this extended to Buttermere Skyline which is an absolute belter/bugger but has suffered low numbers the last 2 years (mainly due to clashes with Champs races). Of course there are other long lakes races that could be considered for LC status (Great Lakes, Howtown, Helvellyn and the Dodds) but non are 'superlong'.
Langdale and Borrowdale are currently always fully subscribed and so don't need the 'support' of Lakeland classics status as much as the others. However it'd be wrong to scrap these two entirely so having one in one year, the other the next seems like a good idea.

Looking forward to Buttermere already. Might recce it this time as well!

If you've done Wasdale does that make you a serious fell runner if you don't want to be one?

Yes: but not if you post on the forum so, DT, you can safely retain your dilettante status unsmirched .
