Hoofstones - Sat 30th Jan

Hi All,

We are running the Hoofstones Fell Race for the second time this year. It was not well attended in Summer so the date has been changed to Saturday 30th January. The race is once again from the Staff of Life Pub, Burnley Road, Todmorden, starting at 11am.

The route involves navigating around high moorland and visits the highest point around todmorden Hoofstones Heights which is on the East/West Watershed. As it is winter time and parts of the route can be exposed I will be insisting on Full FRA kit for all competitors.

This year we are sharing any charity donations between the local flood appeal for the calder valley and also the Calder Valley search and rescue team who provide us with Safety cover.

Looks interesting. Do we need to bring our own map o rare they available on the day?

Some maps will be available Graeme but i can not guarantee one, either way it wont be waterproof. I have also added the out and back route to the above map.

Few people been out reccing the route today and more tomorrow. Word is the bridge in between Noah Dale and hoofstones is unsafe and its best to cross to the side.

Having problems attaching a bigger file, if anyone wants one or can help pm your email and I can send word/pdf/jpeg/tiff files, can only seem to attach jpeg.

Route looks interesting. You can overcome map size problems by opening the existing map and copy / paste into 'word'. You can then enlarge it within the 'word' doc by dragging a corner of the map. Simples :-))

Might be best looking at a 1:25k map to seek out the best lines though.

Looking forward to it ~ and a pint of real ale in the Staff of Life afterwards :-)
