Bowland Route

Has anyone a suggestion for a run, west to east across Bowland Forest area. Possibly starting over Clougha Pike and finishing at Ingleton(Home). Not 100% sure of access issues. I'd like to keep high as possible.

Follow the skyline: Clugha Pike, Grit Fell, Ward's Stone, Wolfhole crag, White hill, Cross of Greet, Great Harlow, Burn moor, due north paths/lanes to Greystonegill bridge, lane to nutgill farm, path home. I have never done the descent from Burn Moor to Ingleton but looks straightforward on map. The rest is a great high level wilderness.

Another option would be a SW to NE traverse of the Bleasedale & Bowland watershed from Chipping to Giggleswick - 31 miles & approx. 5,000 feet - which coincides with the route Yiannis describes, where both routes traverse Wolfhole Crag, White Hill and Great Harlow. See:-

The route described by Yiannis was the "run home from work" of a Bowland member who is an academic at Lancaster University, when he lived on the fells just S of Bentham.

PS, navigation on the Bowland Fells is much enhanced if you know your fence lines and can recognise your fence junctions AND be prepared for an overpowering sense of solitude and isolation.

Thats fantastic! I'll have a good recce on the map and look to have a crack if Mrs tfg is working regularly in Lancaster!
