Hi Keith, glad to see you are already talking about training!
I have no personal experience but Ranulph Fiennes, who had a triple bypass after having been revived three times during a serious heart incident, did the High Peak Marahon with my team a couple of times. As you may know he even got to the top of Everest and still does lots of other stressful things.
    All the best, Yiannis

Keith, I had open heart surgery 6 years ago to have a mechanical aortic valve fitted. The early recovery will be similar in that the limiting factor will be the sturnum healing. The doctors say it is 6 weeks before you can start running again (slowly). You will be back running like your old self once everything has settled down but you do have to be patient.I managed to walk up Pendle after 3 weeks at a slow pace. You will probably get back to where you were in time but in my case the new valve does not seem to be very efficient when it comes to running so I am quite a bit slower.
There is a group on Facebook which I am a member of called cardiac athletes which is a closed group. There are quite a few on there who have had heart bypasses and run regularly. They also have forum on a website but that is not as active.
    Good luck
    Martin
