    Favourite Y.Dales Views

Can't leave my beloved dales out of this view business. One of my favourite sights is from the road between Tatham fell and the drop down to Bentham. You have Fountains, Pen y gent, Ingleborough, Whernside, Gragarath, Leck and Barbon fells all lined up as if posing for a photo.

    Absolutely!
Who can miss the stunning views from the top of Pen-y-Ghent on a balmy July day...

    Stunning view!

Actually I really enjoyed the run up that day!

Do you have to spoil a thread on my favourite area?

This year i did the Fellsman for the first time. During the afternoon, when the weather was good, I thought the view from Great Knoutberry Hill towards Whernside and Ingleborough was superb.

    Re: Favourite Y.Dales Views

I'm not sure its possible to have a favourite view to be honest; I love all the corners of the Dales and, depending on the time of day and weather, pretty much everywhere can be stunningly beautiful or stunningly bleak, or both at the same time.

Although not strictly within the Y. Dales national park itself, standing on Simon's Seat looking down on Appletreewick and the Wharf valley is georgeous.

Inglebrough viewed from the top of Whernside is gorgeous too and the Ingleton end of that (Ribble?) valley viewed from above the waterfalls as you ascend the front side of Whernside - you can almost see it being carved out by a glacier before your eyes (if you know what I mean) in its almost perfect U shape.

I run Pen Y Ghent so often, just being on top itself is a fantastic buzz, let alone the various views.

I love looking down on the gorge like valley leading to Gordale Scar above Malham and also the views as I trot around the back of Malham Tarn, again a regular run for me.

Views on the way up Sharp Haw, a small hill near Skipton, too are lovely, pretty much in any direction.

    I could waffle on....

There are so many. The view from the end of Kingsdale looking down into Dentdale is a cracker and Dentdale intself from Sedburgh right through to the viaduct is probably my favourite dale.

The Kudu bike shop in the Industrial Estate at Hawes 4 weeks ago.

It meant I'd finished the Yorkshire Dales Triathlon!
