    Which GPS watch?

Need a new GPS watch, with main requirements being:

    Cycling & Running functions/modes
Waterproof (not necessarily for swimming, but for really foul hill weather etc)
Wireless sync with phone so I can upload to Strava etc
Ability to record 'laps' for doing intervals
Can upload routes to it using .gpx files etc
Decent battery life (as much as possible!)
Looks more like a watch than a box on my wrist

Suunto Ambit3 looks like it might hit all these things, can anyone confirm? And whats the battery life like when using GPS?

Not overly impressed with the Garmin range these days as it seems like the only multi sport ones are the boxier looking versions. Happy to be corrected though.

What are the other options, or is there a standout choice?

Cheers all from a still hanging on by my fingernails Forerunner305 user!!

I changed up from a Forerunner 305 to an Ambit 3 Sport. It has all the features above. It's a great watch and has plenty of memory and battery for long days out where the 305 would start to overwrite itself. The mobile sync is really handy and so much faster than having to dig out the USB cable and a laptop. I actually wear it all the time as a watch where I couldn't with the 305 and the push notification from phone feature is great as it will beep if I have a call coming in. I was always missing calls before.

Another vote for the Suunto Ambit 3 Sport.

I used it for running only really at the minute but I've used it for indoor pool swimming previously too

Ambit3 Peak has better Nav and longer battery life than the S.

You need an Ambit 3 Peak Dave. 30 hours battery life and you can upload gpx tracks to follow. How do you think I find my way around the Wainwrights?!!

If you look on Wiggle the Peak is not much more expensive than the Sport and it is worth the extra investment for the battery life alone. Just be sure to correct the elevation on Strava when you upload your runs/bike rides as for some reason the Peak is not as accurate as the Sport. The Peak gives you extra elevation on Strava! The battery life makes up for this fault in my opinion.

    Garmins are for road runners!

    Hi Brett

Just out of interest what does the Nepal have that the Peak doesn't?

The Nepal was just a special edition with some of the money going to the earthquake appeal. I also have the Nepal edition; top bit of kit.

I was lucky enough to have the Garmin Fenix 3 bought unexpectedly as a gift, so not necessarily my choice. However, it does all of the above and really does look like a 'normal' watch (you can even change the face to analogue design(s), if you need to). Can't say if it's better or worse that the ambit which looks pretty good too by most accounts, but I'm happy with it and it's been faultless over the last 13 months of daily usage. It's supposed to synch with your smartphone too for notifications, weather apps, blue-tooth music controls, etc, but as a luddite I still have a steam driven phone so can't comment on that functionality.
