I don't think he will need the Moon mapper.
He wont be in the dark.

Is he not trying to climb Everest in the fastest time ever, before doing the BG?

Not sure where starting from, or with/without oxygen, but surely that's going to leave him lacking a turn of pace (if not injured or worse, perish the thought)

Non-stop from Rombuk to summit and back without oxygen, apparently.

That's a heck of a long time to hold your breath for.

it's clearly going to be a fair undertaking, but I follow the guy on Strava and he does 15,000' ascent for breakfast - I don't think this is going to set him back too much and I'm sure he'll factor in some recovery time.

Having been to altitude (Alps and Himalaya) there's a couple of fitness slopes you find yourself on: one is recovery from the debilitating effects of altitude, muscle wastage and the like; the other is the reducing benefits of altitude acclimatisation, aerobic capacity etc. At some point these cross and it's around that time where you'll achieve most. Kilian will know how his body recovers from big efforts so will likely time any attempt for that optimum window.

    It will be interesting.

My guess is that he's going to run it on the weekend 10th June.
According to his blog he's going to Everest mid-May and anticipates spending a month there before returning to Europe. I guess that rules out the start of June.

As for those who complain of Salomon "razamataz": although he's got a decent crew at Basecamp, he's only taking a cameraman to the summit with him. He's actually relatively low-key.....
    ....it's all downhill from here.

That cameraman will have to be able to move fast up the mountain! I'm not sure that Fellephant with his crutch would cut the mustard.
