Don't know about routes, but don't miss Mount Stuart House and Gardens, stunning, oh and the Black Bull in Rothesay is a good wee pub, opposite the ferry terminal.

The off road cycle way links up some great out and back routes - the OS map is a perfect companion to the cycle way guide and yes the Black Bull was fantastic for us last year. Slight midge problem when the wind drops, so just keep running/cycling and they won't get you!

Jez, can I emphasise just how jaw droppingly amazing Mount Stuart house is. Even if you never go in for that sort of thing, this is worth a visit. The tour starts with a completely white marble chapel, where the sun seems to reflect of the walls onto the altar (or did when I went). It actually gets better from that. Worth a couple of hours recovery time.
