Split times are now on the Relays website. Note the comments from the organiser about Nav leg CP's 2 to 3. People do get up in a heap about these things and I've seen some rash things said on the Fell runner Facebook page. It's all over now - on to the Lakes for next year! (And wasn't the event that Graham B is talking about the last time it was organised by Dark Peak in 2000? I was on the 4th leg in the mass start and even when we'd finished there were a fair few from earlier legs still stuck in the Edale peat bogs. I'm sure I heard a rumour that 2019 will be there again.)

I don't think it was that one, Martin - although I remember it well. Bingley's A team (even Rob Jebb and Ian Holmes) were in the mass start for leg 4). But that was in the days before referees etc.

No it was the more recent event at Church Stretton and IIRC it involved a team who had serious navigational problems which were nothing whatsoever to do with either the course or the organisation,

There were people out for a long time when Calder hosted it at Castle car.

I think that was the last time you visited all the points in any order.

You're right Stagger, and I wasn't aware of any relays before that either where teams were allowed to choose whatever sequence they wanted to visit the controls in. As the organiser I had just reckoned that it would make it more interesting, and also lessen the 'following the train of runners ahead' aspect.

Out of interest, two pairs got under an hour for leg 3 back then (2006): Logue/Heys and Holmes/Jebb... and some took a lot longer. I won't embarrass the forumite who was in the pair who took 2:52. (*cough Ambleside women *cough)

I took about 100 shots of leg 1 on my phone which came out quite well. You can see larger versions here:
