    Roger Baumeisters double

Does anyone have any information on Roger Baumeister's Double BG. I was interested if he went CW/ACW or the Spinks out and back route. If both rounds were under 24 hours or if it was a quick one followed by a slow one?

I have a vague memory that he did a sub 24 hour round CW then L1 again to Threlkeld then stopped for a rest, but i might be getting mixed up.

    Edit, just found this.

He did the out and back to Yewbarrow, then out and back to Yewbarrow route that Spinks did.

Surely a round is as described.

Out and back is not in the sprint of the challenge.
Weather, terrain and other factors are all affected.

Don't call it a BG if you don't do it as a ROUND.

Think of a new name please.

Why did you start your BG at the Hall then?

    You followed tradition.

    Which is my point.

If you do it differently call it something new.

Surely, 'The Round' applies to the one lap.

To do a double is, in itself, to defy tradition and take the matter to another level; good on them whatever they want to call it.

    Ok, I stand corrected.
A double is what ever you want.
    And in any direction.

There's no formal definition for any of the extended rounds: 50@50; etc, presumably Fred Rogerson and his contemparies didn't consider that it would happen with any regularity. There have been a few membership applications using extended rounds, generally handled under rule 11 of the Club's rules.

As far as a double round goes, it can be done howsoever the individual decides though if it is to be used for club membership application then it should include a standard sub 24hr round.

Without me you'd be one place nearer the back

I'm pretty sure that Nicky copied his route. I think the rational was based on support at Wasdale being easier. Plus it was a (tiny) bit easier mentally.

Didn't the guy who won the spine have a go at a double earlier in the year, but pick a terrible weekend for it so bailed out?

My 2 penneth: - A double in terms of visiting every summit twice, but not 2 'rounds' by definition - so call it a 'Double BG' but not a 'Double BG round'?
