I've often thought it would be really interesting to run a Lakeland Classic in early fell running gear. Hobnail boots, tweed jacket etc, the clothing Bob Graham would have worn. Which begs the question, would it pass a modern day kit check?

Now you've hit on something there old chap!
We could have a forum versus FB challenge race, us in Bob Graham kit and the FB young pups in whatever consensus decision is reached as to best socks/shoes/shorts/vest/wicking layer/top layer/windproof/waterproof/hat/glove/bumbag/torch/food/drinking system/whistle for the event.
To make it fair, when the gun goes, we'll be off in our hobnails whilst the pups will don one item at a time once the FB suggestions have reached consensus for that item and so on.
A proper Bob Graham challenge for the 21st century!

What length of nails should I use for the Bob Graham though? What would the best hammer to hit them with? Should the pattern on my shirt be horizontal or vertical stripes?
Important questions to ask, along with ‘when does the nurse come round again?’
Being a contrary cuss, I always race in diagonal stripes!
