Could anyone recommend any fell races suitable for an enthusiastic, (wobbly), novice fell runner between 20/12/17 and 03/01/18 please?
During the school holidays I'm looking to get over to the hilly bits of the country.
Thanks

Giants Tooth on New Years Day is a perfect novice race.
The start line tends to smell like a brewery with some hungover looking runners though!

....it's all downhill from here.
Nine standards, from Kirkby Stephen, on new years day is a nice out and back.
Rossendale's "Whinberry Naze Dash" - usually on Boxing Day morning - have a look at the fixture lists on the FRA website.
I remember going down to run it in 1986. I changed at the Marl Pits Sports Centre and walked down to the start in the town centre. There was an oldish guy maybe V55, with a '3 lap / hide my bald patch' haircut hanging down one side of his face, a well worn & faded Rossie vest, a Walsh PB on one foot, a Compass Rose 'o' shoes on the other, spewing up in a shop doorway:-
Me, "Are you OK pal?"
Him, "A sight better than I will be in a couple of hours, when I get home to the missus."
Me, "How's that?"
Him, "Went out with my mate for a quiet drink at teatime on Christmas eve; not made it home yet!"
Some fair sights to be seen in Rossie on Boxing Day morning, not to mention the runners in fancy dress!

I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!
Cracking story :-)
You could do worse than a trip to Glossop for Wormstones. One of Des Gibbons' many races. Nice and low-key.

Have fun whatever you choose
