Entries are open for the Hoofstones Fell Race on Saturday 27th January.

The race requires navigation skills, if you are not confident navigating come along to one of our recces. We can show you the route and also how to use your compass, if you are unsure. There should be one over Christmas and one early january. You can then decide if you want to enter.

Hoofstones Fell Race Final Instructions

Entry on the day is £10, there are still lots of places left so no one will miss out.

Please note you will require Full FRA kit to take part in the race as follows.

Waterproof Top with Hood and Sealed Seams

Waterproof Trousers with Sealed Seams

Map of the route or alternative covering the area

Hat and Gloves

Compass on which a bearing can be set

Emergency Food

Registration opens at 9.45, you will need to do the following.

(i) Fill in an FRA entry form

(ii) Get your kit checked

(iii) Form gets approved

(iv) Go and collect number

Registration will close at 10.45, you will need to have had your kit checked and collected your number by this time (this is a safety measure to make sure we can accurately count the participants)

Parking is limited at the Staff of Life and we need to leave some spaces for patrons. Please park sensibly, there are various small car parks approx. 200 – 300m further down the road to Todmorden

Well everyone who didn't run this today missed out on a very challenging cracker. Thanks to Dan and the team - even the organiser who was running erred from the best line. A moor full of fellrunners. Thats why we have to carry full kit! Team Facebook would have been horrified. Tindersticks got second! persistance pays off, well done Darren.

Why would anyone want to wear headphones whilst running on the fells? Surely the sound of the wind, the birds, fast jets and the ability to hear other runners shouting "passing right/left" is enough without being wired for sound!

Great race , conditions were interesting and people were all over Stansfield Moor trying to get to checkpoint 4. 6 people missed checkpoint 4 and so were disqualified. I had a bit of a wander around (as Matt says above), but only lost 2 - 3 minutes, after hitting a tussocky section on redmires reservoir.

Thanks To Claire Duffield for stepping in to be organiser so I could run, she was great and every comment from runners has been positive.

We will be donating £250 to the Calder valley Search and Rescue Team who assist with race safety.
