A very brief lung buster from the showground, 1.5m/400', uphill finish which favours any juniors chasing you down as every age group starts together. The juniors were keen at the start and blockaded the first two rows, after a silly sprint I found a spot in the field I liked. A pathless course full of thistles and tricky, very steep descents followed by a torturous run in during which I could hear a little girl behind me trying to pounce. Just had to dig in, which was difficult as my studs were digging into the melting tarmac. The winner was a boy who came up to about my waist, and made monkeys of us all; I'd seen taller dogs around the showfield. Great little race and a good traditional little show, very under the radar.
