Sad to hear of the passing of Jim Bowen. I found him to be very funny. As for Ken Dodd, he was not in the same league, never raised a grin in me, never mind a laugh.

Jim Bowen is a 'local' - taught in Morecambe before he 'made it'. Then lived at various des res in the Lune Valley - Arkholme, Caton & Melling.
Give me the 'Little Scouser' every time - he did some great BG training, carrying all those biscuit tins full of tenners up into his loft!
I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!
Dear old Jim...how to make a little sprinkle of talent go a loooooong way. Bless him.
Doddy was perhaps the best example of what I call an 'attritional' comic. He would batter away for hours and eventually get you with one fine honed gag. When that happened, you were his and laughter flowed from there. But a lot was complete tosh...Diddy men anyone??
