    Best chippy - South Lakes

Heading up to Coniston tomorrow but will be mostly walking/running around the Grasmere area and could do with some decent fish and chips in the next few days. Usually stop in the North lakes so not that familiar with take away options in the South.Any recommendations for anything in the Ambleside/Coniston area?

I like the one near the cinema in Ambleside, although at busy periods it can take a while, as they serve people eating in as well.

My brother heartily recommends Vinegar Jones in Bowness Town Centre.

It has to be said that North Lakes is the chip shop mecca though.

Not central but for information purposes, Greenodd is passable and ideally placed to hit on the way in/out. Good place to refuel after a big day and before a drive home.

Greenodd is good, but if you want the best than the Chippy Bank in Ulverston combined with a run up Hoad Hill although it is even further out of the way.

Yes, I like the chippie in Greenodd, used it many times over several years ...... as you head into the village from the A590, cross the bridge over the River Crake estuary and it's on your left, just before the John Deere tractor dealer.
I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!

Indeed - might be meeting up with some old friends in Keswick tomorrow evening so may forsake the campervan curry I had planned and pop to the old Keswickian.

Greenodd is good. Does the Keswickian still have the beer fridge upstairs in the sit-down section? 😉
