Good luck to you all. A lovely event which I haven't done for a good few years and nealy died trying (had only ran 13 miles in twenty years before doing it- didn't intend to finish it, but did and regretted it for weeks but still, loverly event). Maybe next year, if I can stop throwing myself off mountains, I'll come back and do it.

I'm enjoying the carbo loading but not looking forward to the windy (if straightish) road to Chelmorton. Anyone changing their mind about footwear? I'm thinking of keeping to road shoes despite the heavy rain forecast for Friday & Saturday. No doubt a jacket will be useful too. It's not going to be hot, and will be exposed in places.

I'm still in the viral swamplands & won't have fought my way out before tomorrow. Just as I thought I was recovering I'm down with another cold thing & feeling too rubbish to run to the end of the road, never mind 40 miles. And it's been a whole month now! Mrs Splatcher says she's going to hide all my running shoes if I look like heading for the Peak tomorrow, but she needn't worry - I know when I'm beaten. I should be back in action in a couple of weeks & then I'll start to get fit again. Have a good run tomorrow all of you.
