There might be some clues as to best lines etc in the race reports at www.runfurther.com too

Its a nice event and was pretty well sign-posted bar monsal dale viaduct (turn right & don't go up the hill assuming the people in front of you know where they are going..!) Also found that the kit list interpretations were 'interesting' out of four who missed the turn I was the only person with a map, the head torch also didn't seem required unless you were going through the Hope village check point at a certain time in the afternoon. I completed in about 8 1/2 hours and was in way before the light was going to be an issue so could have carried an awful lot less weight.

The route for this section is described here on the HP40 website.

Thanks Marvin. Didn't check the map - must have been pre the diversion. Rest of it will be fine though.

My advice for anyone doing this for the first time - comfy shoes! Quite a lot of the route is on hard packed trails and there is quite a bit of road so some cushioning might be appropriate if you like to be nice to your joints. I've missed this race for the last few years as it clashes with Lantern Pike but I did write up my run in 2004 - if anyone is interested look here...

As Marvin has pointed out, the route has changed recently on the approach to Eccles Pike.

No, the map is post-diversion, but wrong at Cadster!

Think I might have been talked into having a run out at this at the weekend. It's September 19
