I'm damn sure I saw an egret fly over the car on the way to work this week - in deepest Wales .
Or was I still pissed?

Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.
One would hope you weren't, especially if you were driving
I Can't help noticing that the HERON OF DOOM has returned..
It's been stood on the Apex of the garage roof across from me.. all the time watching me, just watching. I hope he's not a portent of a possible water based tragedy !
He's like a huge Pterror... Pteredack... Dinosaur Bird.

i'd love to see a Kingfisher
Now likewise harrymoon that is something I would love to see myself. I was sat in the garden last summer with a coffee in my hand when all of a sudden a Woodpecker appeared and give one of the Apple trees in the garedn some wellie I wish I would of had my camera in hand. At the minute we have a group of Mallards that sit on our front step or on the front lawn. Our little harry is fascinated by them.
Danbert.....A heron occasionally visits my neighbourhood, i think he likes the pond a couple of roads away
he/she particularly favours a chimney pot on one of the houses adjacent to my back garden
the heron has taught me how to become a responsible citizen........nowadays I enjoy watching its graceful flight, its carefree stance and majestic overview of the terrain
30 years ago I would have shot it with a gatt gun
Who cut your hair, Stevie Wonder?
Loads of woodpeckers round our way (Macc Forest)... they're pretty busy at the moment. Plenty of birds of prey too.
Haven't seen a Kingfisher for a while but worth the wait when they come out... surely that blue can't be a natural colour... they must have a respray every year.
Back to the beginning though, migration and habitation will have changed as a result of climate change and the changes in agriculture ( monoculture and the effects on invertabrates at the lower end of the food chain).
Bloody 'ell, I can get really boring and gloomy if I want
I've not seen one yet this year but do see them quite frequently at times on the old mill lodge just down the road. I saw four together one day at the back end of last summer. They were making a lot of noise and chasing each other and I suspect it was the parent bird(s) evicting the young ones from their territory.
The Heron of Doom is back.. he's not looking at me (so far) today. He's clumping around on the main roof of the bloke across the roads house.
In fact the bloke across the road has just come out of his house and is looking perplexed. He's actually stood in the road (he could get knocked over if he's not careful) to get the angle to look up at his roof to see what's causing the noise.
I reckon he thinks it's a Pelican.
