Anyone not involved in the FRA Relays on 13th October might be interested in this LDWA event which welcomes runners. It's 3 loops (12,6 and 5 miles), each from Sowood Community Centre, near Stainland. You can do a single loop or any combination. Details at

I haven't done it before but it looks good, and as an LDWA event it's likely to be well organised (ie plenty of refreshments...)

Never been around that area. Whats the terrain like? Looks according to the map that trail shoes may be a better bet?

I don't really know the area either. I generally find that trail shoes are the best option for LDWA events - there tend to be some hard surface sections and there aren't normally any very steep gradients that would justify a proper fell shoe. (Hope i don't come to regret that statement...) I'll be in my Wave Harriers.
