Very few problems this Summer as the rain mainly fell much further South and East. There was some random flash flooding last year due to a 3hr Thunderstorm but the rivers didn't flood, could have happened anywhere.

That's what you'd think. Not this thunderstorm, it was no respecter of gravity or drainage and just filled up any available hole i.e. back doors, cellars, yards, velux windows (this was a hot day!) etc. Some houses on top of hills did get flood damage.
2.25 inches of rain in 3 hours 1.25 inches in 15 minutes in the middle somewhere. Classic flash flooding, nothing whatsoever to do with fluvial processes or storm hydrographs
