As he reached the brow of the hill on his way back home, he realised he had a puncture, so he stopped to change the tyre. As he was doing this, he heard a loud screeching noise and a creature that stood upright and was covered with hair, landed on the roof of his car and started shaking it. Griffiths soon scarpered. He described the creature as having a head like a collie dog and a face like a horse with a long neck and wings.

One version of the birth of the Langbar Lucifer says a woman with 12 children made a wish that if she ever had a 13th child, she wanted it to be a devil. Guess what - her next child was born misshapen and deformed! One stormy night, the child flapped it's arms, which turned into wings, and escaped out of the chimney and was never seen by the family again. The mother was heartbroken and in recognition of this, locals planted trees in the shape of a heart. If you're driving along the A59 at this time of year, when you're just about level with Beamsley Beacon, look up at Howgill Wood and you can see the heart.

He saw a surprising number of ghosts at Bolton Priory in his time.

Yep, we organise the Weets Race (Weds 20th June, 7:30pm kick-off from Barnoldswick up, appropriately I guess, Weets hill and back to the park)

    http://www.wharfedaleharriers.org.uk/organise.html

Can't offer any assurance they'll be any snow (keeping sort-of to the theme of this thread!) but a nice time and place to run a race! All runnable for most and bar a tiny bit of track (uphill for about 300yds on way back) all off-road and on mostly non-rocky fell.

Be good to see you at this one if you're back in good ol'blighty by then.
