    Gerry Charnley Challenge

I'm trawling the forum for knowledge!

Speaking to a chap in Windermere on Sunday he mentioned the Gerry Charnley Challenge, and I'm trying to find out some more details
Apparently it is a circuit of all the tops in the Howgills, but I'm hoping to find out which tops are included?
is there a recognised start and finish point?
is there a recognised route between the start and finish?
and whether there is a schedule for theis route?

    not much I know
I've googled various combinations but not come back with much of use

thanks to anyone who can help
    ben

It is in fact in the Lakes linking Eskdale, Langthwaite and High close hostels into a round of 36 miles and 10,000' ascent. Alternatively it can be done as three loops from each hostel. It just happens to be on page 74 of the latest Fellrunner!!
A map showing the route used to be available from Eskdale YH. If you go to the YHA website you can find the hostel phone no. They should be able to tell you if they still have copies left.

    Ben your article is great.
Gerry Charnley was one of the founder members of SROC- an orienteering club based around Preston. There is some info on our web site at www.sroc.org and some members have some info they can pass on if you contact us

A little confusion here.... forum user "theNoor" is author of said article in The Fellrunner. This chap Ben, I don't know from Adam, but I still wish him all the best in finding owt out about it. There's NOTHING on the internet that I can see, BUT get hold of my article in The Fellrunner and it's all there for you to enjoy.

Let me know how you get on!

    Ben,

I presume if you searched the forum you found this thread, but I guess not, given you started a new thread on the same topic...

Send me a P.M. if you want more info, unless you're the same person who emailed me t'other day...
