Daz, what is all this with you and cold hands? All your avatars look as if they could keep several pairs of hands warm, simultaneously!!!

    waterproof gloves

How do you keep your hands warm when its freezing and lashing with rain?

A waterproof barrier like washing up gloves would be ideal - nice and light while maintaining dexterity - but I can't find them big enough to get over thermal gloves.

I'm dong the Edale Skyline and I want to be ready in case it's anything like last year.

I have some Poirelle gloves that are good, but must admit, never wear them when running. After first 1/2 hour my hands are normally toasty.
A pair of merkalon glove liners (occassionally thicker thermals) and long sleeves on my Lowe Alpine waterproof suffice.

Washing up Gloves !!! Are you mad ???

It would be like wearing a plastic sheet as your waterproof !!

Get yourself some proper gloves to do the job you want; Sealskinz or Goretex etc.

Don't skimp on the quality of your kit.

Decathlon do a decent windproof glove, for around a tenner I think. Wore a pair for Edale last year & they were pretty good.

Never mind all this posh glove millarky, I just wear bog standard woollen running gloves. If its very cold and wet I take drastic action and take a spare pair with me.

One of the guys in my running club has those waterproof looking Nike running gloves with a little zip in one palm for his car key....... Poof!

I've got a box full of cheap disposable plastic gloves like the ones you get on garage forecourts to stop diesel getting on your hands. They work really well over my cheap fleecy gloves. Don't try the Daz H trick of wearing surgical type thin rubber gloves under your non-waterproof gloves. Your hands will freeze.

    Re: waterproof gloves

One of my gloves came in very handy yesterday for stuffing down my shorts, the wind chill down below was causing pain so the glove saved the day. I lost 2 fingers to FB but was the better option
