The Snowdon Challenge is not a race or an organized event but a challenge to run all six routes of Snowdon - three up, three down - following the route fixed by the inaugural run in 2001.
Starting at the Snowdon Ranger Youth Hostel, your first climb is up the Snowdon Ranger path; then down the Rhyd Ddu/Beddgelert path and onto the road through Beddgelert to Pont Bethania; then it is up the Watkin Path, down the Miner's Track to Pen-y-Pass; before the final ascent up the Pyg Track and final descent of the Llanberis Path to the finish at the railway station.
The inaugural run took 10 hours and 4 minutes. (Time is counted from commencing the run at the Snowdon Ranger Youth Hostel to the railway station in Llanberis, including stops). We are planning another attempt in May 2008, and we are planning to get under 9 hours this time.
The route includes 2,679 metres of ascent and 2,741 metres decent.
