Pissing rain seems to be the default at the moment. The inevitable has now happened and the road to town has now flooded and is impassable

    Still a fab place mind!

Not rained up here today . Should see the amount of water in the river headed down your way though

Parents retired to Wales in 1995. Little village called Llanon on the coast just below Aberystwyth. Been holidaying there since i can remember as well as everywhere else in Wales. Angelsey, Abersoch, Tenby, Lake Bala, funnily enough my Dad was born in Hungary on the shores of Lake Balaton. Beautiful place. Sadly Dad died in 1999 and Mum moved back to Yorkshire to be closer to me and my sister. So many fond memories of the place. Used to love going to visit them, free board and lodgings and the Brecon Beacons only 50 miles away, drive down there and get meself up Pen y Fan then drive back and have a freezing cold swim in the sea with me Dad. You've got me reminising Wheeze, thanks for that, Happy Days

    Re: I love Wales

    And this weekend is why

Missus and I met the Boy Wonder and his mates for a great 6 hour walk over Siabod and on, weather was cracking and company great. After the Siabod peak we hardly saw a sole.

Sunday I was well pumped up, driving to Beddgelert to the Waterboys 'Whole of the moon', with the sun rising onto the tops I parked up and was off up Hebog, then followed the PB route to Rhyd ddu and back thru' forest to my car in 'gelert. Again nobody much about, blue skies, sun and the hills.

Monday morning return to Newtown to work ....... only the car took a sudden right turn off the A470 just past Trawsfynnedd (nowt to do with me ) parked itself down the end of a track, and before I knew it I was off up Rhinog Fawr for a gentle couple of hours. What a morning, the clearest skies yet on my fave hill - bollocks to work, I couldn't miss this for anything.

Best ever February weekend, in the best ever country.

Bunking off work - what a naughty Molehill - but I did seriously consider on Sunday pm telling the others to bugger off home cos I'd be staying longer!

Had a great day with Molehill and The Missus ( not forgetting dog Sandy) - never done Siabod East ridge scramble before, good fun, then miles of glorious deserted country - through binos we could see a queue all along Crib Goch! Sunday we went over to Cadair - left car at the top of the pass and then walked up from Tal-y-Llyn and then all along the ridge to the (very steep!) drop off at the end - Carmarthen Fans and Beacons visible away to the South, Pumlimon close at hand - made me realise what an awesome amount of ground you guys covered last year!

Iain R is talking about a Bounds of Beddgelert attempt in April - a good warm-up for 50@50?
