    Sheffield/Peak races at Xmas

I'm back in sheffield for xmas and was suprised to see no races listed on the (online) calender.

Anyone know of any? fell if possible but road or trail is fine. Looked on the DPFR but couldn't see anything.

    Quite fancy one.

The only one I can see is the Whinberry Dash, near Rossendale, I've got a family party in Warrington that afternoon so at the moment that looks a possibility as it's not too far out of the way.

    Cheers

    Iain

*PS I've joined the FRA but the calendar hasn't arrived yet.

The only one I know about is the Peak O Trial on 30th December, details on the FRA website http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/2007races.htm. I've pre-entered for it.

Cheers, I'm in Scotland for NY's, so was looking for boxing day really, there seems to be a few on around then.

Quite suprised, I thought there would be a classic boxing day race somewhere in the peak, petty there isn't. Sport and boxing day go together well.

Hmm Yes, it is a shame. Why don't you fix it for next year, or even an informal one this year? I might even join you if you fancy a run out somewhere.

Penistone Footpath Runners will be out round Wharncliffe Woods and locality on Boxing Day, just a run not a race.
Usually meet at Mallard House, Finkle Street.
Our web site (www.pfrac.co.uk) will fill you in with a few details if you are at a loss for something to do.
More than welcome to join us.
IainR, I think I am correct in thinking I ran with you from Llanberis to Ogwyn with Nicky Spinks on her PB.

Marvin, yeah petty, the reason i don't want to organise one is I don;t really know where I'll be each xmas/NY's, with my wife being aussie, being over there for xmas is always appealing, and I live in North Wales, sister the Highlands, Brother Zambia, parents Sheffield, so I never know where I'll be.

I'm also partial to a beer which makes any xmas running plans tentative..:-)

PlumBum, Yeah I did that leg, cheers for the offer, at the moment I am considering the Whinberry Dash, as I have to be in Warrington in the afternoon for a family party, I'll be over that side of the penines anyway.

    Cheers

    Iain,
(v pleased to hear you have taken the plunge with the FRA!)
there will be plenty of stuff on here-abouts (not that far from Sheff'),
over the festive period...of an impromptu racing nature...
    on the brightside & beyond..
watch these spaces (in addition to DPFR's brilliant Carshare)..
    http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/ & http://penninefellrunners.co.uk/
    guest runners are always welcome!
(so long as they don't win, all the time )
    Miss Muddy Paws Dad....
    Not clever & often stupid..
