    Knee OP

Well the operation went OK. However, I am now on crutches for 2 weeks, restricted to low impact for 3 months after that, so the 3 Peaks and High Peaks Marathon are very very doubtful. Apparently I have had a tear on my cartliage which they have removed but also got a small hole developing in my knee which could in time turn into arthritis. The surgeon has drilled holes in to this area to help promote scar tissue and build it back up, hence no weight on that leg for 2 weeks. He also has said I have torn my ACL (cruciate ligament) but this has been done years ago and I've been managing to run without it !!!

Its going to be a long winter !!!

Hi Denzil, I wondered why I havent seen you for a while. I'm sure we'll see you about for the Three Peaks

Set your self small targets and you'll get through it.

    Re: Knee OP

I've been back to seemy surgeon and everything is going well. Back in the gym the knee is gaining strength and the physio has signed me off now. The rest as she says, is up to me.

Apparently this is the procedure I've had done http://www.yorkshirekneeclinic.co.uk...ceinjuries.htm. If there are no improvements with the pain when I start running again then they can look at filling the hole either with 'harvested' bone or artificial plugs. They may even look at at reconstructing my ACL at the same time. Lets hope they dont need to do that !!!

    Re: Knee OP

To be honest NOURN I;'ve always had problems with my knees since being 11 and doing lots of gymnastics so I dont know whether this is somthing which has crept up on me or not. I would say though hat what caused me to go and see the specialist in the first place was a definate change in pain and swelling caused after one nights speeds work ! I'm just an old knackered git !!!
