Yeah doing this on saturday, will be a change to run in the Beacons in good weather as Pen cerrog calch and the Beacons race were awful. Nav doesn't look too difficult, a bit worried about through the woods later on, always confusing..

    Hi Iain,
Here's the route I plotted last year:

I agree, pretty confusing through the woods at the end...

i'm intrigued, (or confused) which race is this, it is not the same as the BMR which starts in crickinhowell (or however you spell it) is it? The one which raises funds for mountail rescue?

Ah - I see that Iain & I both presumed the thread "Black mountains" was related to the Black Mountains race that's on this Saturday (27th Sept)

The one on Saturday 27th September is the "Black Mountains Race". It starts in Llanbedr, is 17 miles and is a proper competitive fell race. Details here:

The one that takes place in April is the "Black Mountains Roundabout". It starts in Crickhowell and is 26 miles. It's not a fell race, but a challenge walk/run in aid of Mountain Rescue. Details (for 2008) here:

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Black mountains

I think he actually refers to the Big Black Mountains Challenge, which Longtown Mountain rescue organises each year in May, with a 10ish miles, 17 ish miles and 26 ish miles route that is meant for walkers, but some of us run it...

Re Black Mountains race that is this Saturday: weather forecast looking good for a change, navigation easy with good visibility and last year the confusing bit through the forestry was flagged...

See some of you there :-)
