That's all very well if you have Memory Map - doesn't it cost megabucks?

I find the altitude stats useless, although I understand that SportTracks have a better data smoothing algorithm than the Garmin Training Center for analysis.

I'm happy with the 2-d ability of the watch, to be honest.

Have you got Sporttracks 2? If so there's an elevation correction plugin. I find that it fixes elevation data if you're in town...

The plugin info is here: http://sporttracks.zonefivesoftware....pic.php?t=2269

    Cheers,

    Derek.

.....and Memory Map won't help Hopey as he's a Mac user. Not sure that any of the mapping stuff is available for Mac's

    oh ps,

Just noticed that Tracklogs are doing 10% off all orders over £45 in December. I feel a map spendfest coming on on....

    Two different factors here:

    1) determining altitude from satellites is less accurate than distance, due to the angles involved. Hence the difference you normally see between climb and descent

    2) if you look at the garmin even when on the flat the height reading will bob around a bit. Therefore any program needs to remove (smooth) this inaccuracy. Also off road you will be going up and down even if running a relatively smooth path, do you want to count that as ascent or not (probably not, but again the program needs to remove it).

Suprised that training centre is so far out though!

No I can't get memorymap or sports tracks 2 for the Mac

So I now need to try and do a run with Sarah so we can compare the readings after as Sarah has Sports track.
