Stomach Pain after drinking

Hi all, thought you guys would know best.

Doing a 21 miler this weekend I had a two cups of orange juice t around 17 miles.

Not long afterwards after the pace picked up and we headed slightly downhill my stomach 'went'.
It's not stich, but I could hardly move let alone run. I've had this before at the Fellsman, but not as bad. It was a really intense pain across the front of my chest, halfway down my ribs to my stomach. Resulted in me looking an extreme fairy making silly noises...
Has anyone had a similar problem, i've had it mentioned that it could be the orange juice, maybe water would be better? but surely the effects wouldn't have been that bad!

When it happened during the fellsman, had you had any orange juice?

a sharp pain in the front of my stomach, but over a wider area that stitch.
tends to be that i'll run through stitch, which i very rarely get - oddly!

Several things spring to mind.
It may simply be nasty reflux, which would be worsened by acidic drinks, strenuous exercise, drinking quickly and excessively on an empty stomach.
Gastric emptying is also delayed during exercise.
Does it occur when not drinking orange or running?

If recurs, see a doctor.

Have a read about lactic acid and stomach cramps?
Alternatively, like others have suggested, 5 min chat with your GP will probably be the best way to understand whats happening.
