Rob Grillos staying the distance is quite a good read,
It is basically about running in The Keighley area prior to 1999. Just seen one on ebay £8.99 buy it now.

A couple more cycling books - Michael Hutchinson's "The Hour" and William Fotheringham's "Roule Brittania" are both very good.
CH mentioned the Coe/Ovett book - if it's Pat Butcher's one, that's good too, and the Mike Stroud book mentioned earlier is an excellent read.
Climbing - Jim Perrin's "The Villain" - the life on Don Whillans
and if it's fiction you're after, George Saunders "The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil" is both brief and (sort of) frightening - American satire at its best.
Happy reading!
Thanks for the recommendations.
Bought "Ultramarathon Man" - which was very enjoyable, lots of good quotes and quite inspiring. Took it skiing and on piste accident meant I had more time to read it than I had planned .
Borrowed "Running High" - It's okay, though I preferred FITC, I'm looking forwards to him getting out of Scotland and into the Lakes as, except for Skye, there's much of a muchness about his description of the munros.
Ordered The Wild Trails book, which should arrive soon.
Some of the other books (Cudahy's and Ron Hill's seem to be very hard to get hold of)
Cheers, CH.
