    Lancashire XC Champs - Witton

This Saturday 5th January at Witton Park.

Not running this - course building - marshall management - and then seeing my U11/U13 & U15 athletes warmed up and on their way - including my 2 kids and better half.

Any forumites having a bash? Young or old? U11's making their debut!

GM guests are welcome to see what a County XC Championship should look like

NB. Entries are allowed on the day. 11.00am first race.

Entries allowed on the day in a county champs? That's a bit contoversial isn't it?

Re: Lancashire XC Champs - Wit

I'm not on the Lancs AA, but last year they had £4 for pre-entry and £4 extra on the day.
Lot of complaints - and numbers seemed to be down a little. So just £1 extra this year.
A lot of juniors in particular who may not be up for a County Vest, tend to come as a spur of the moment thing, so I thing they have relaxed this over the last few years to keep the numbers up and ensure that we have real races.
12 x U15 Girls racing round Witton wouldn't be the greatest event.

It seems to have worked as it looks like the Lancs is one of the best attended Champs in the country and pre-entries are also quite good this year.

I think allowing entries on the day is a good idea, although doubling the entry fee seems a little harsh. I do get bemused with this sport when there are more rules preventing participation than encouraging it.

Course is drying up - just had a look at the bottom half of it - should be good tomorrow.

At the risk of sounding like a dimwit (did that ever stop me?)- Is it all grass or are there stone path sections like at some xc races?
