Yep - headtorch goes on charge later tonight!

Mind, you've got a 2 second reputation to maintain now Trundler!

Be good to "catch up" with you again Andy (...though you might need to slow down a bit for me if you're on the same form as you were at Beamsley!)
...there's a hill nearby missing its fool...

Re: Full Info on the run

    Sharphaw Owl Event
    Wed Night 27th February 2008
Start at 7.30pm Tarn House Hotel Stirton nr Skipton
    GR SD977535
Timed or none timed Nocturnal Training Run
    Guess your time entry £1.00
    Everybody welcome
The route is from the hotel up to the trig point at the top of Sharphaw GR 959553 and then on to the top of Roughhaw GR 963559 then return back to the hotel.
    Approx 4.5ml
This is the 4th Owl Event this winter and hopefully everybody will have as much fun as the previous events but remember running in the dark is very testing so a good headtorch and proper clothing is recommended.
The route isn’t flagged or marked so a recce is advised.
These events are basically timed training runs so its up to the individual how they run them. You are given a number so we can give you an accurate time.
There is a bottle for the nearest Guessed time.
There is a get together after in the Tarn House Hotel.
Send me a PM if you need more info.

Just looking for a slot in my bulging calendar for a recce..... Couple of interesting choices at the start (and obviously at the end). No substitute for local knowledge

    I'm in

As for the need for a recce, I think it should be pretty straight forward (unless Grifter wants you to follow a funny route):

You go through the gate at the top of bog lane, follow the track over two cattle grids, swerve to the right about 100 yards after the 2nd cattle grid and follow that path right up to the Sharp Haw trig, then drop down to the right, into a small valley and then up Rough Haw to the cairn, then cut back and look out for a left fork (on the Sharp Haw up slope I think) that will allow you to cut the corner and get back on the main path back down the way you came up.

It should be immensely muddy too with the only the odd rocky bits near each summit.

I never thought of cutting the return up to Sharphaw off but have to admit it could be worth a look but i think there is a dry stone wall running down off Sharphaw to Roughaw.

There's definitely a path but I like going back up Sharp Haw again. Insist on double peaking Sharp Haw maybe?
