cant tell any difference , why do you have the problems you lot with the extremes
you talk as if the pb trainers are the only fell shoe you can run in
    surely not

    Hmmh - ineteresting thread.

I had a pair of extremes which were great so for some reason I decided to go for a pair of ultra extreme, took a size smaller and the results.........well, still a bit too big, as wide as a bus, ankles all over shop.......help's by doing those top laces up though........

might go back to normal xtreme's or even gladiator's...........

my first pair of Glads started to fall apart after only 50 miles...tut tut. but after sending them back to RB with a note, they replaced them no problem

Is the lacing any different Daz? Hopey said it is on the PB Trainers.

I've solved my problem for now by ordering some old style PB Racers (the last pair they had in my size) from the very helpful people at Lakesrunner in Ambleside.

Now Gladiiators really are a crap shoe. Mine lasted one race (Borrowdale) and fell apart.

I've heard several similar comments about Mudclaw 270s . I've had several pairs of Gladiators and not had any problems. When I said the last pair were disappointing I still probably got about 400 miles out of them but Walshes last me longer than that.

The only pair I have ever had were useless after two runs, whereas I have had a good 6 months out of a pair of mudlaw 270s on the fells and still use them on Scout Scar when it is muddy because the grip is so good even when too worn down for the fells.
