    Starting in Kirkby Lonsdale...

Morning everyone. I've managed to negotiate 4 days staying in Kirkby Lonsdale next week. I'm training for the Three peaks in april. Can anyone recommend any good fell routes from there , 8-10 miles or so, apart from the obvious ones on the route itself of course. Cheers.

If you can get there for Sunday afternoon Barbondale Fell Race sounds like a cracking event.

It is a fantastic race; otherwise head for the Howgills. There are plenty of 10-mile loops starting from Sedbergh, Cautley, Tebay or anywhere in between.
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.

    Thanks for your comments.
The races did not match my dates and i ended up finding my own routes off OS maps. Here they are if of any interest.

    11 miles
Start Kirkby Lonsdale up through Casterton and around/over Brownthwaite and Barbon Low Fell to Barbon then rtn to KL.

    12 miles
Barbon up to Calf Top on Middleton Fell then follow track round till it meets the Sedbergh road and rtn to Barbon

Can recommend both even if foul weather, which it was!
