Thread: Pipe Dream

    Re: Pipe Dream

It's no problem, all the upland is now open access land anyhow and prior to that I believe it's a PROW.........years ago access was only allowed due to National Park paying landowners across the ridge (there's some 15 of them) to allow access but since CROW act that's been superceded. A rule which was strictly applied back then was no dogs but not sure about that nowadays.

Otherwise great route to recce, especially descent....best day out is to get 2 cars and run from Llanuwchllyn all way to Bwlch Oerddrws
Oh good, will look at doing this next week (Wed probably). It mentions there is very few definative tracks to follow especially after the first 2-3 mile. The route seems quite straight forward,is it just a case of keeping the exposed rock close on your left on the way up ?
    Thanks

My calculations are similar. Looking forward to it.

    Re: Pipe Dream

I ran Pipe Dream last year.

Finding your way up is no probs, you literally follow the path that follows the bloody great pipe & when you do leave the pipe there were markers of some sort I think. Unfortuneately the marshalls at the summit were on the wrong summit & sent Shaun & myself the wrong way. Realising we were wrong we back-tracked a bit & looked for Richard whom we followed through a couple of fields until he got lost. Despite winning it the previous year Richard didn't know where to go -he reckoned it was covered in snow the previous year & there were more markers- so we sort of spread across a field looking for markers. As Iain says the road is steep but if wet it's a bit tasty following the path down alongside the pipe.

Don't worry I had an email from the organiser saying that he will have more marshalls out this year.

Good luck all, I'll not be there this year.
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

Should also mention that there are some changing facilities & ladies making tea for competitors & spectators.

I'd also like to add that the only reason I'll not be there is that I've got/had a stinking cold & I'm getting over a pulled butt muscle.

Pete, we let Craig know about our adventures. I'm sure he was more annoyed about it than we were.

However, he was not as annoyed as the runner -I won't name him- who started kicking his bumbag up & down the main street in frustration . I especially brought my kids out of the village hall so we could have a good laugh at that .

Have fun, I look forward to seeing the pics.
