A fantastic race but definitely not one for novices.
the final descnt off calfhow pike is seriously scary, I did this one about 5 years ago, and slid down the final descent in wet conditions, catching one of the sharp rocks, and ended up with a cut artery and a blood clot on my right calf. I ended up going home in a Cumberland ambulance.
Our local running club has so far declined to include this race in their fell running championship.

Aye, its a real bugger that descent, what wi the cramps and the steepness, the terrain, it was my first mountain fell race and I ran it last year. Felt good but I just took my time and tagged on to the rear of someone who looked like they knew where they were going. A good tactic, it got me round and made up some places on that descent, dropping out of the cloud and seeing lots of other people struggling like myself is kind of reassuring when one is at the back of the pack.
A great one to bag, still wondering which one to do this year?

So, is anyone doing this race?

I will be up there camping out & watching & taking photos, but I'm not brave enough to run it.

Dont get me wrong, I'm glad utd won but lottos are great when one wins eh, good game, shame about the way it was decided, why do they use penalty shoot outs? We all know it should be next goal wins. Have a good run stanny.

Thanks mate, it's a bad way to lose a big game on pens.
United have gone out quite a few times on penalties and it's bitter.
