    Why has no one mentioned the awesome cakes and foodstuffs available at the finish?

    This should be the main reason for doing this and the Two Riggs race the following Tue or Wed.

    Unfortunately I got a DNF last year, to go with my DNF at Two Riggs the year before... seems there's a jinx in St. Johns in the Vale for me.

    So instead I'll do a swim, bike, run thingemy on the Sunday.

    But it is VERY steep up, I was close to dropping out before the climb given I don't do heights. There was NO way I would have dreamed of going up there on my own, but with plenty of bodies to cushion any fall I thought I was safe...
    Why walk when you can run.

    okay mate
    would have given you a lift but have amanda and the dog and only have a van nowadays not a big 4x4.
    hopefully see you there at some point

    yeh no worry's,pudgy is giving me a lift up so i will see you there

    The only time I did this race you couln't see the climb due to very low cloud, so I didn't even know that I ought to have been worrying about it

    ....tea in a proper China cup at that and a real cake frenzy.

    Well despite some of the horror stories on here regarding the ascent/descent off Calfhow Pike, I'll be giving it a go. I suppose the promise of tea and cakes at the end will spur me on

    I'll be hovering around near the back somewhere.
