    Welsh 3000s in June anyone?

As this year is my 40th and I'm half welsh (bottom half before you ask - short hairy legs!!), I thought I'd do the Welsh 3000s as close to my birthday (13th June) as poss. Unfortunately my preparation has not gone too well - just getting back on form after a pretty serious MTB accident end of last year put me out of action for a couple of months.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the biggest problem this has caused is I've not been able to get up to Snowdonia to recce the route and am not going to get the chance to before June. I've done bits of it before (mainly walking), but not the whole lot, so am looking for someone (ideally but not essentially, who knows the route) to run it with, so if anyone fancies a good day out on either the first or second week in June please get in touch.....

    cheers

I'm not Welsh, but would probably qualify on residency grounds!!

I have the The Welsh Three Thousand Foot Challenges: A Guide for Walkers and Hill Runners book for xmas and had planned to have a go in August.

I haven't been for a reccy yet (I live in mid-Wales), but the book is superb.

I don't know if I'd be ready for June, and I'd need to drop about a stone as well!

Give me a month and I'd know better by then.

    If not, good luck!

There's plenty of extra info here as well.

Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Thanks for the tips guys, though I'm veering toward doing the Welsh 1000m peaks race on 7th June instead - not as many hills as the 3000s, but still a challenge (especially given lack of hill time under my belt this year!). Its also got the distinct advantages of a bit of company on the way and being a lot simpler logistically - I can even get a bus to the start!
