mmm, strange one this as i am certain i came 8th,there was a group of about 8 of us that did slowly branched out in the first part of the race, while dave seem to pull away into the distance, think i was 6th at one point then phill came past again after a problem with his foot,at this point there was me and 2 dark peak lads which kept together upto the last check point were we all had a drink of water and proceeded on with the race this is where it gets strange the 2 dark peak lads began to build a gap on the decent back down this is when i noticed a runner in a yellow vest upon passing him realising it was dave watson,i thought fine he must have finished and be doing warm down run even though there was 2/3 mile to go at this point i thought christ he must have easily won it,to which now does not seem the case,so did he injure himself or did he go the wrong way ??????.
Maybe Dave was 9th then. I think I was 13th with Marko just in front of me, Slippery Stones & a Horwich chap in front of him. Don't know if Dave was injured - surely he couldn't have gone the wrong way, he won last year, didn't he?
cant see him going the wrong way,he did win it last year, cant imagine him running out of steam, injury is the only reason i can think off, well done to all who run anyway.
i was confused to see mr Watson, after he blasted off at the start.
as for the Horwich lad (10th), we had a good run together in places. him clipping along the side of the dam and chatting away (me hanging on an gasping), then i pushed it up the hill to catch up with Marko and Geoff B, before the bloke from horwich came steaming past in the last bit through the woods.
strange but he looked rather fresh at this point !!!! he did say it was a training run for his three peaks preparation
Good on him
Hard Work, Hard Training and Suffering...Race Easy
OK, anybody else up for this longish plod? It's a local race - I've run it for the past three times so I'll be along on Feb 3rd. Last year it was glorious sunshine so shorts & vets were in order.
And the nosh is always good afterwards, thanks to Denby Dale Travellers.
