I'll be going up CG tomorrow to take pictures of Dark Peaks Marg hill race. I'll give an update of the conditions on my return.
i ran up cut gate yesterday then down to the res and back up onto howden edge - there are lots of really icey sections on cut gate, easily avoided though, the snow along the edge was drifting and deep in parts.
Not sure of the route for this tomorrow , hoping to EOD, can anyone tell me the exact route, is it back up howden clough or can you climb straight onto the edge and go along the time - much prefer the steep quick climb rather then slogging along the clough?

As Rodders says you run back round from penistone stile to the cairn just below the edge. Howden edge is out of bounds
Ran up this morning, no problems to bull clough, from there though there is rutted ice and some water ice mixed in the snow, no problem going up but coming back at speed it could be marginal, there are trods in the snow at the side though. if we do get snow then it will cover the bad bits which are in the river bed above bull clough.
some pictures of todays conditions..

now snowing in Langsett...
You know people get paid for the work you are doing Ian, ie the guy who checks out Hellvelyn every day! You should build a house up top 'o' Cut Gate.
