    Calder Valley routes

Who can help me then? Up in the Calder Valley area from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday early evening. Fancy a run or two, somewhere between 10 and 20 miles.......what routes would you suggest? Don't know the area particularly well but have got the 1:25000 map at the ready.

Thinking of doing the Calderdale Hike in April as well.....are that bits of the route that are really worth recceing?

You could always do the hebden route, either 14 or 25 miles, route descriptons here: http://www.alangreenwood.biz/hvh/

Thanks for that link Graeme, I'd forgotten where those instructions were. That's not a bad idea.

Have a look at Good Shepherd fell race route

    http://www.cvfr.co.uk/Races/Good_She...epherdhome.htm

Another alternative is to start at NT car park at Hardcastle Craggs nr Hebden Bridge and run up toward Howarth along Crimsworth Dean (the Hobble route), go over Oxenhope Stoop hill, then back along Pennine way and Hardcastle Craggs reversing part of Hebden LDWA

Thanks Derby Tup. That sounds like an even better idea 'cause we're staying in Hebden Bridge. I'll have a look at that Good Shepherd route as well 'cause I'm hoping I might get out for a couple of runs.

Hopefully see you at the Hike. Weather conditions will hopefully not be as cold as on the Helvellyn ridge at xmas!!

Think our club, Calder Valley Fell Runners based at Mytholmroyd will be having the first run in the light on the fells on tuesday night, a quick run up to Stoodley Pike. I'm sure you would be made welcome.

I would check out the club website for more accurate details if you do consider it.

    With regards

    Gaz

Thanks Gaz. That'd be great.....just not sure if we'll be able to stop late enough. Might try and do so though, 'cause I'd love to run with you lot.

That was great running past those walkers in full mountain gear on the top of a very icy Helvellyn

    See you at the Hike!

    Re: Calder Valley routes

How about the Wadsworth Trog route, Mr 1470:

    http://www.cvfr.co.uk/Races/Trog/troghome.htm

(then click the links to the route, and the start/finish map since the route gets a bit difficult to read for this bit on the scale of the main map).

20 miles from just outside Hebden Bridge. Join it halfway round the start loop if you're in the centre of Hebden.
The circuit of the cricket pitch at the end is purely optional.

Cheers Bill. I shall have a good look at that later.

Thanks everyone, I've got some great ideas now. In fact, I can see me doing long runs on Sunday, Monday AND Tuesday
