Done the Gin Pit Race a few times, not too far away so could do that. Lancaster?? maybe.

Or the hills of the Oldham Half would be a good tester.

Well that was fun this morning, good 2 1/2 mile climb out of Oldham and a long downhill, with lots more ups and downs on the way.

Nice finish to the race, off the main road and along a cycleway into town for the last mile.

Can't remember doing a road race with next to no marshals out there. Were about 6 people on the 3 drink stations and they were outnumbered by the specials who did a great job stopping traffic at some major junctions.

Would've been a pity If I had taken the wrong turn near the town centre finish after almost 13 miles, but the signage was on the sparse side in places.

Only 138 finsihers, after 4 miles I had one guy in front of me, passed him after 20 mins and that was it - only just about saw 1 runner in front of me all the way back! Nice quiet training run with the traffic being held up

My next half may well be Langdale in September, which will be similar in hills.

Would strongly recommend this race for those looking for a challenging road race/half marathon.

It is a really good run ('bout 1200' of climb I think) When I ran it a couple of years ago I dropped off the cycleway straight into a 200 strong Muslim Anti-war demonstration. Not the usual race hazard

Yep, some great views also over Saddleworth Moors with the snow down.
