Slayer and Anthrax tonight at Manchester Apollo....how charming does that sound?

For complete contrast, going to the Christmas markets first for some apple strudel and custard. Then dining out on good old 'thrash metal'.

Mmmh. When I wanted to be nostalgic I would go and see, say, the Everly Brothers or Fats Domino.

Do you think it's a generation thing?

Oh I think so. For me it would be The Buggles and perhaps a spot of the Bay City Rollers. I'd stretch to a bit of Mud if I was feeling raunchy.

Yeah - Bay City Rollers sounds about right.

If you had said Taylor Swift I would have known you are lying about your age.

I'm not sure he'd be up for that, but whatever floats your boat!

On a less flippant note, James Last is one of my favourite old artistes and is often blaring from the Hi-Fi, courtesy Spotify as I sit at the computer. A current fave is Caravan Palace. I think I first heard them on Jonathan Ross. I've discovered a few interesting artistes on there over the years. Some of Blank & Jone's chill-out creations also float my boat. These are a million miles away from most mentions on here and have probably already made Messrs Breeze, brightside and Tindersticks violently sick.

You won't know them, they will probably fade away into obscurity like 99% of all bands.
But for me, its beautiful stuff, better than most I hear on t'radio.

That sounds great to me, right up my street, seen both these bands a few times, top quality thrash metal, ace. How was the gig Darren?
I'm off to Manchester Apollo on Saturday to see Judas Priest, and Michael Schenker supporting. Always had a soft spot for Priest since I first saw 'em live way back in 1981,cant wait for this.
