Tan Hill Inn to Kirkstone Inn

Two of us did this yesterday. Some of you may have heard of the epic Tan Hill Inn to Cat & Fiddle Inn - 120 miles linking the two highest pubs in England. The Tan-Kirkstone is its little brother being a pub crawl of a mere 45 miles and 11000'. It was devised by Pete Simpson a couple of years ago who, incidently, has done both routes!

Mist and showers made it tricky going over to Nine Standards but after Mallerstang edge there was excellent visibility crossing Wild Boar Fell and the Howgills where we dropped off to cross under the M6 before a long run up Borrowdale and onto traverse the Eastern Fells to High Street and then down to the Kirkstone.

It is part of the Over The Series and we managed a first class time. Highly recommended day out with varied running throughout.

Good effort MM, I like these solo unsupported challenges, I already have this one in mind for the spring next year.

    Well done and whats next?

I have to confess this one was supported with it being linear but agree unsupported solo efforts are more rewarding.

Having done all four in the OTH series it looks like I may have to come up with something new for next year. Watch this space!!

Good luck with your Tan-Kirk - I 'm sure you won't be disappointed.

    Well done MM....
Not done TH-KI yet, sounds good...
I've been lucky enough to have done TH-CF....
Plus, a few other esoteric RC creations.. all worth doing
    Colne - Rowsley
    Grassington - Langdale
    Aber - Barmouth
    And quite a few more...
+ a few daft doubles & silly trebles..
Probably still got some notes etc (somewhere )
As and when you fancy a crack, PM me and I'll try & find them...
    Miss Muddy Paws Dad....
    Not clever & often stupid..

Yes I have heard of some of these .... quite an impressive list LS Makes the Tan - Kirk look like a walk in the park. I might contact you sometime for details - presumably they all appeared in the RC journals - I am sure they deserve a wider audience.
