    Re: Winter Bob graham

From "42 Peaks -2nd edition" we have:

John Brockbank & Selwyn Wright 1986 in 23:06
    Steve Parr 1986 in 23:26
Martin Stone (solo) 1987 in 23:41
    Nick Lavery 1988 in 22:45

    More recently:

    John Fleetwood 2005 in 23:54

I think that there is one other after John but can't remember if it was the same winter or more recently - it was commented on in the previous incarnation of the forums.

    So either 6 or 7

Tell Roger Smith it's down as Nick in the 42 Peaks booklet.

I'm surprised it is as many as seven to be honest - you have to be really perverse to spend all those hours of darkness out on the fells.

Why is that? the last few nights have been superb, perfect for a winter attempt i would have thought.

    And yes it is Nicky

perverse - marked by immorality; deviating from what is considered right or proper or good

    I think Bobs right

Nothing immoral or improper about traversing overland, overnight in the winter animals do it all the time, and it could make for less queuing time at the BGR bottlenecks

also scott umpleby and someone else - can't remember the name. think it was 1999.

i'm pretty sure there's one more besides. this weekend would have been perfect but doesn't quite meet martin stone's definition of 2 weeks either side of 21 dec.

I've always had a problem with this, only 4 weeks for it to be a winter round?
Also coming from a climbing background my definition of a winter run means lots of snow and ice, just cause its dark doesn't mean its winter if you know what I mean, the sort of conditions you did your ramsey in.

I've got a few things I'd like to do this winter like the county tops and lakes 3000 but I'd like to do them in "winter conditions"

Maybe future winter BGR runners could use photgraphic evidence outside the magic 4 weeks.
